Review NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Quadcopter Drone

This amazing starter/beginner friendly drone is known for a few things and has a few features going for it, that other drones might not normally have. It has an unbelievable 400 ft. range.

Has 30% longer flights on average, by making use of a Premium Rechargeable LiPo battery making it capable of up to 10 minute long flights.

While these aren’t the only notable features that make the National Geographic quadcopter drone standout, they are certainly some of the most important.

There are some other great features we love about this quadcopter that will be going over shortly. But before we do, let’s take a quick look at the specs and size of this drone.

In addition to the intelligent control system, the National Geographic Quadcopter features a 360-degree flipping function used to flip the drone and the 6-axis gyro stabilization system that enhances stability while the drone is airborne.

Drones are a great way to have fun and teach kids about flight. And while they’re always excited to try the latest technologies, most drones operate on sophisticated controller systems that are too complex for young or novice pilots.

Fun, fast and easy to use, the Quadcopter Drone from National Geographic is great for kids and for kids at heart! Featuring 1-button controls, our innovative remote allows you to take-off, land, return to pilot, and perform 360-degree flips with one simple push.

Other useful features on this drone include the altitude hold function that lets the drone hover in the air, one-button landing and takeoff keys that facilitate safe landing and takeoff respectively, and a headless mode function.

The optional four-port charging station with two additional rechargeable batteries to to double the number of batteries and triple your flying time.

This has a one-button 360° flip which beginners will really like, especially kids. It can be a little tricky when you’re starting out to do flips with a standard quadcopter because you have to push a button and a direction and younger kids might have issues with it but the fact that this is one button makes things easier. The other good thing for beginners is the altitude holding system. When you typically let off the throttle of a standard quadcopter the quadcopter will just drop and quit flying but that is not the case with this one, it hovers.

There are speed controls on the remote and they default on level two and go from 1-4 and these also light up for easier reading. You will have to pop the landing gears on before you fly and be warned they are not going to stay on. As a matter of fact my husband suggested that you glue them on there permanently if you don’t plan on storing this in the box because they are going to be lost very quickly while flying, we almost lost them while testing this. These are something that you are not going to want to lose because if they are not on there you can damage the quadcopter easier and since this is geared towards beginners you are going to want your drone protected as much as possible. You will notice in the video part of this review that it was a big issue for my husband.

like almost all quadcopters this has its good and bad points. This is not for anyone who has been flying quadcopters for a while this is definitely for kids/ extreme beginners and even then it has a lot of issues that will frustrate people.

Our fast and agile quad-copter is ready to take off, do 360º flips, and return to base with the push of a button. Advanced stabilization technology makes this drone easy to pilot. Flies for as long as ten minutes with the included rechargeable batteries. Controller requires four AA batteries, not included.

Pros:

I found the controls easy to use, even for a beginner. The left joystick controls the altitude and orientation while the right joystick moves the drone across the sky. The trimming adjustments also help correct the quadcopter if it tends to move in one directions.

The video quality is OK.

Setup was straight forward and fairly quick. I simply attached the landing legs, properller guards, and installed the battery. I was ready to fly in less than 15 minutes.

Cons:

Video quality: Video is good and okay kind of one….off-course we can’t expect DJ’s video quality. I expected to come with a spare battery, if it, then it would been great.

Battery life: Battery life is around 10 minutes. The charger is not “smart”, so you do need to make sure to disconnect it from the charger after 1 hour to avoid damaging the battery.

Final Conclusion:

Perfect toy to play in and around the house, it is compact and even it hits the wall, it bounce back without any impact, the rotors have plastic protectors that helps from tangling into furniture or anyone hair (happened before).

The first thing I can say is READ THE MANUAL. It is precise, highly maneuverable, and quick. The controls are responsive and smooth. I can’t tell how many times I have crashed, sometimes pretty hard, and it still flies just fine. It is simple, and very well made

Need to mention about the size, it is very compact that it can land on our palm easily. Reason am saying is, as my kid was using her hand as a landing pad..yea she love it… particularly when it blows huge air..

Even i had many drones, this is the first time i got such a wonderful controller, this is entirely different, not so hard multiple controls, instead very nice and decent to hold. Take-off goes very slow so you can control it.

Altitude hold is amazing in this one, i was telling my kid not to touch the left lever and try to run it just with the right one, she enjoys flying a drone like this.

Charger looks fancy and easy to put charge.

Overall, having a lot of fun with this drone and enjoy learning the controls, tricks and also like checking out videos and pictures afterwards.

Review Wifi FPV Dbpower U818A Drone with 720P HD Camera

Most drones nowadays focus on two extremes: either way too pricey for professionals and intermediate users only, or too cheap, which makes it more in line with hobbyists and beginners. The in-between market, however, is still relatively small. That is until the Dbpower U818A WiFi FPV drone hit the market. For its undeniably mid-range price, you get specs that are not that flashy but also don’t feel that cheap, which hits a certain niche in the current market today.

For the same price, you also get an above average HD camera which records 720p HD videos at 30 frames per second, which is pretty decent for the price. The overall feel of the drone screams better quality, which for solely that reason, is good enough for a consideration if you have a mid-range budget. Simply put, this is one of the best drones out there for the bang you get for your buck, if not for all the remaining great features on it as well.

For meeting small demands and a more hybrid use, the U818A is a decent choice for a beginner or intermediate looking into buying a better-than-the-cheapest choice.

Dbpower U818a Wifi Fpv Advantages

If you’re new to the drone affair but you’re not willing to just throw cash away in the form of the cheapest options available, then this drone is great for you and your wallet. Although its price is modest, you get an above-average quadcopter with full smartphone integration, meaning that you get one of the more coveted features only found in higher end drone models. This allows you to use your smart phone as a viewing device for the video output from the drone. The whole thing comes integrated into the controller, making it easy and quick to use.

The average flight time lasts for about 9 minutes, which is great for the battery size. There’s even a spare battery included for you to get double the flight time in one rotation. The quadcopter’s great modular design means that if any parts were to be defective, they can easily be replaced. The flight controls themselves are simple and intuitive which makes it perfect overall for beginners. There’s even an option to enable gravity induction, which makes flight even easier. This mode allows you to fly the copter at the same angle you’re holding your smartphone, whether it’s forward, backward, left or right, basically integrating it even more.

Completely FPV-integrated flight with real HD transmission makes it perfect for your aerial mobility needs. You can view a live feed of the camera on your mobile device with the FPV Wi-Fi feature. Including LED navigation lights and the remote control signal light gives the quad a great look whenever it’s used at night. There’s also a low-voltage alarm that’s triggered by a low battery, which is a great feature for reminding you if you need to charge the batteries.

The controls found on the remote are intuitive and responsive. There are separate buttons for image snapping, video recording, and even for the 360° roll. There’s also a pretty useful return home button which compensates for its lack of GPS. One press and the quadcopter will return to wherever you are. There’s also a headless mode, a state of intelligent orientation, eliminating the need for repositioning, which is in itself very useful if you are a beginner.

Disadvantages

Of course, being lower priced means that it has its share of flaws, the biggest of which is the camera, which is not the highest quality and not replaceable. If the time comes and you find yourself wanting to upgrade, it’s too bad—you’ll need to buy a new one instead of just replacing the camera.

The flight time is also a little short because the aircraft is a lot lighter. True, your purchase already has a spare battery, but generally, this only translates to about 18-20 minutes’ total, which is still five minutes less than the premium drones out there.

The motors and circuit board are also somewhat prone to heat with use, and the manufacturer advises taking a cool-down time of 10 minutes between each flight sequence to make sure that the parts remain intact for as long as possible. I don’t know if you can attribute this to bad manufacturing or just bad quality materials used, but this gives you some hassle. Instead of unimpaired, continuous flight, you will experience interruptions every hour, which can take some fun out of using the quadcopter.

There is also no GPS to assist your flight and you’ll be reduced to trying to keep the copter in your sight, otherwise, it can move out of your signal range. There are built-in measures though, such as LED lights and the low voltage battery alarm/reminder.

Dbpower U818a Wifi FPV Verdict

Sadly, there is still a pretty huge gap in the mid-range drone/copter market. It helps, though, that there’s the Dbpower U818A, which while not filling all the checks of what a perfectly capable mid-range drone should have, makes up for it with its inexpensive price and versatility. Very well worth the buy if you can see past the small cons if you absolutely hate buying the cheapest of something.
